Fans of equestrian events will have a special treat this weekend as The Event at TerraNova is being contested in Myakka at the TerraNova Equestrian Center.

Admission and parking are free, although VIP ticket packages are available. The event began Friday and runs Saturday and Sunday beginning at 8 a.m. each day.

On Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., TerraNova is hosting Empty Bowls, where guests will enjoy a bowl of soup, salad, bread and desserts, and will be able to take the bowl home for a keepsake. Tickets are $35 and are available at MealsOnWheelsPlus.org.

For complete schedules, go to TerraNovaEquestian.com.

The facility is located at 31625 Clay Gully Road, Myakka City.

The different levels of competitions start at novice levels and go all the way to Olympic level talent.

Like an equestrian triathlon, eventing tests horses and riders in dressage, cross-country and show jumping.

Alyssa Phillips of Fort Worth, Texas, who will compete in eventing and who on Thursday competed in The Estates at TerraNova dressage competition, said of the facility, "Riding at this beautiful facility is amazing. I am so happy to be back here.”

That was despite the fact she broke her ankle when she competed at TerraNova in April.

"I’m very eager for some redemption," she said in a release. "And I’m going to stay on my horse this time.”
