The Bay Runner free trolley service has added two stops between downtown and St. Armands Key.

Effective Nov. 8, the former stop at Sunset Drive/Golden Gate Point has been restored after being suspended during FDOT construction of the Gulfstream Avenue roundabout at U.S. 41, and a new stop has been added near Bird Key Park at John Ringling Causeway and Bird Key Drive.

Because John Ringling Causeway is a state-maintained road, the city’s parking and transportation personnel coordinated with FDOT on state requirements and logistics to make the Bird Key Park stop a reality.

The free, open-air trolley-style buses run regular routes between downtown Sarasota, across the John Ringling Causeway, through St. Armands Key and terminating at Ted Sperling Park at the south end of Lido Key.
