Motorcycle crash closes US 41 for several hours

Two people on a motorcycle suffered life-threatening injuries in an early Sunday morning crash that closed Tamiami Trail between 12th and 17th streets.

An early Sunday morning motorcycle crash on U.S. 41 landed two people in the hospital and closed the highway between 12th and 17th streets for several hours. The Sarasota Police Department reports two people riding a motorcycle crashed around 14th Street at 3:38 a.m., closing the road.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation late Sunday. There were no reports of other vehicles involved in the accident.

Both riders were transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
