Man dies in accident after his SUV strikes a cow on SR 70 in Myakka

The collision caused the 62-year-old LaBelle man to be ejected from his Toyota SUV after it overturned.

A 62-year-old LaBelle man died early Monday morning when the Toyota SUV he was driving struck a cow on State Road 70 in Myakka.

A Florida Highway Patrol report said a cow had wandered onto S.R. 70 at its intersection with Betts Road. After the SUV hit the cow at 1:34 a.m., it overturned and the man was ejected.

The report said the man was transported to an area hospital where he died.

The FHP is investigating the crash.
