No ifs, ands or putts about it: Golf is back on Longboat Key for the winter. The Key Niners celebrated their first round of the season on Nov. 9 and gathered for lunch afterwards.

About four dozen women gathered under the trees at the Links Golf Course at the Longboat Key Club for lunch after coming in from their first round. The women's nine-hole golf association also welcomed five new members this winter, and the golfers spent time mingling and catching up before finding their seats for lunch and to find out who won the day.

Club President Noreen Ackerman thanked her members for being there. This will be her last season as president and Amy Price will take over next year. Some golf goodies were raffled out, including golf balls, shoes and a golf bag, before the leading foursome was announced. Lynn McBrier, Price, Jackie Tilton and Zoey Zakovec topped the leaderboard.
