Those seeking to escape the summer heat with a day at the beach will now be greeted with a rundown of the beach rules.

The town of Longboat Key recently installed new signs at the public beach access points detailing the open hours, prohibited behaviors and best practices for good shoreline stewardship.

Among those banned activities is drinking alcohol, smoking or vaping, having an open fire, camping, using motorized vehicles and bringing dogs. Signage also reminds visitors of the turtle nesting season, which runs through Oct. 31.

Beach hours are from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. For more on regulations and access points, visit LongboatKey.org/331/Beaches.
