Sarasota football roundup: 09.28.17

Riverview High defeated Palm Harbor University High 47-7. Rams senior quarterback Arthur Brantley ran for 121 yards and two touchdowns, while junior running back Ali Boyce recorded 87 rushing yards and three touchdowns.  

The Rams will have shortened prep time for their makeup game against Steinbrenner High on Oct. 2. 

Sarasota High lost 38-20 to Palmetto High. Junior defensive back Charles Ward had a 98-yard kickoff return touchdown for the Sailors, and senior quarterback Tommie Battie IV threw two touchdowns to senior wideout Deric Dubose. 

The Sailors are idle next week before playing Braden River High on Oct. 13. 

Booker High beat Bayshore High 6-0 for its first win of the season. Booker junior linebacker Xavian Donley returned a Bayshore fumble for a touchdown in the victory. 

The Tornadoes, too, are off next week before playing DeSoto County High on Oct. 13. 

Cardinal Mooney plays Calvary Christian High on Friday night.
