The deep love and appreciation that Sarasota Ballet has for its director is indisputable — just pull up their website and you’ll see “The Sarasota Ballet — Director Iain Webb," not just "Sarasota Ballet," on your web browser tab.
This year marks Webb’s 10th anniversary with the company, so ballet gala chairs Sydney Goldstein and Vivian Kouvant organized the whole event in his honor. Thus Celebrating a Decade of Webb was born, and it took place on March 27 at the FSU Center for the Performing Arts.
Event-goers began their evening with a cocktail hour during which they enjoyed drinks, amuse-bouche and mingling with other guests before heading into the theater for the performance. Along with several Sarasota Ballet principal dancers such as Kate Honea, Danielle Brown and Ricardo Rhodes, there were several guest performers who took to the stage. Simone Messmer and Rainer Krenstetter of Miami City Ballet performed Victor Gsovsky’s “Grand Pas Classique” and Misa Kuranaga of Boston Ballet performed “Le Corsaire” with Sarasota Ballet principal dancer Ricardo Rhodes.
After the performance, guests headed outside to the tent and its rose-adorned tables to enjoy a Michael’s On East meal.
