If you've got more cans of green beans than you can eat, consider donating extras during a food drive this Saturday.

Manatee County residents received bags and postcards in the mail to aid the National Association of Letter Carriers and the U.S. Post Office collect food items for the "Stamp Out Hunger" Food Drive. This drive will benefit the Food Bank of Manatee and other local pantries.

Residents are asked to put non-perishable food items in the bags — such as healthy cereals, fruit cups, baby food or boxed and canned meals — and leave them near their mailboxes Friday night or early Saturday morning to be picked up by their mail carriers.

The food items will be unloaded and sorted Saturday between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. by postal employees and volunteers at four county post offices.
