The Players Theatre will soon have a new facility for its educational arm, the Players Performing Arts Studio. Thanks to a gift from local donor Arnold Simonsen, the Players will open this September a new state-of-the-art facility, called the Arnold Simonsen Players Studio.

Located in the new Rosemary Square development on Boulevard of the Arts, the new facility will be located within walking distance of the Players Theatre and will continue to provide training for more than 300 students, ages 3 and older, in the form of weekly performing arts classes, summer camps and community outreach groups. The new facility will provide opportunities for more than 50 classes, as well as daytime mommy, baby and senior classes and an after-school care program.

“Education in the arts is more important than ever,” said Managing Director, Michelle Bianchi Pingel, in a release. “In the global economy, creativity is essential. Today’s workers need more than just skills and knowledge to be productive and innovative participants in the workforce. The best way to foster that creativity is through comprehensive arts education. We could not be doing this without the generosity of Mr. Simonsen. We are so excited about this opportunity and grateful to him.”
