Lights in Bloom brings holiday cheer to Selby

At 5:30 p.m. Dec. 15 there was an air of excitement on the grounds of Marie Selby Botanical Gardens. Chandeliers hung from the banyan trees, and the sun began to set as trays upon trays of Michael’s On East hors d'oeuvres were brought out in preparation for the 100+ guests.

By the time the sun disappeared into Sarasota Bay, attendees were all gathered on the lawn in front of the Selby House in anticipation of the big moment: the lighting of the gardens. Welcome remarks were given by Board Chair Emily Walsh, and then Michael Klauber and Phil Mancini of Michael’s on the Bay had the honor of pushing the bright red button to illuminate the grounds.
