Public Service: A woman and her husband were walking on the beach and discovered a large sea turtle that appeared to be stuck in the surf and eventually became beached. Playing dirty
6:47 p.m. — Jewfish Key
Battery: Police questioned three individuals about a possible fight on the Jewfish Key sandbar. All three individuals said they did not see anyone get struck and that the incident was a rough football game that possibly got out of hand. Police then spoke to a man who had swollen and bleeding lips and a swollen cheek who refused medical treatment. The man said a white male in his 20s wearing American flag-type shorts struck him in the face without provocation. He showed police a cellphone photo of the suspect, but it only showed the man from the back and side. The man said he wants the incident prosecuted if a suspect is identified. Police suggested the victim and his friend stop by the police department at a later time to give a full account.
