“Somewhere along the lines, someone says thank you, and I’m honored to be part of this distinguished group of people.” — Honoree the Rev. Don Roberts.
The Rev. Don Roberts and Mabry Carlton were honored at the Argus Foundation’s 14th annual Lifetime Achievement awards Nov. 4, at the Hyatt Regency.
The Rev. Donald Roberts was recognized for serving as president of Goodwill Manasota for nearly 40 years.
Mabry Carlton, a posthumous honoree, was honored for his work on the Sarasota County Commission from 1980 to 1989, where he played a critical role in the county’s purchase of a 24,000-natural preserve, which was named the Mabry Carlton Memorial Reserve after his death.
“He’s been gone 26 years,” said Lisa Robinson, Carleton’s daughter. “To have an organization like Argus recognize his contributions after so many years, our family is really excited about it.”
