Injury Accident: Two men riding bikes on the sidewalk rang bells to alert a female jogger they were coming by. The jogger moved to the right, but one of the men never moved left to pass her and plowed into her. The woman fell in the grass median, and the bicyclist fell on the sidewalk and hit his head. The woman sustained an abrasion on her right leg and declined treatment. The bicyclist was transported to the hospital for a head injury.

4:48 p.m. — 500 block of Sanctuary Drive
Assist Other Agency: A Washington, D.C., police officer contacted Longboat Key police, asking an officer to perform a welfare check on a local resident. The man told police he was “doing just fine.”

MAY 16

7:56 a.m. — Intersection of GMD and Tarawitt Drive
Suspicious Vehicle: A man told police that someone in a white pickup truck opened his gate and drove down the driveway. The driver fled after noticing cars were in the driveway. Police searched for the truck through a trailer tag number the homeowner provided. Two days later, police found a truck matching the description. The owner told police he drove to the house by accident. He got the wrong address for a pool service appointment.

MAY 17

11:35 a.m. — 2900 block of GMD
Noise Disturbance: A man told police his neighbor was making a lot of noise on his roof with a leaf blower. He also told police the neighbor’s workers took cinder blocks that were leaning on his fence and moved them. Police told the neighbor he couldn’t make power machine noise on Sundays per the town’s noise ordinance. The neighbors then argued about where the property line exists after the neighbor sarcastically asked if he could rake the leaves by hand without offending his neighbor. Police told the parties the property line dispute is a civil issue and urged them to get along.
