Two properties sell for $8.1 million; Keller Williams opens Key office; Businesses to celebrate military

Two properties sell for $8.1 million

Two neighboring Gulf-front properties on Longboat Key at 5871 and 5861 Gulf of Mexico Drive sold for a combined $8,125,000 May 8.

Reid Murphy, of Developers Realty Inc., was the buyers' agent for both properties. 

Christina Landry and Kathleen Callender, of Michael Saunders & Co., were the listing agents of the property at 5871 Gulf of Mexico Drive. Roger Pettingell, of Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate, was the listing agent of the property at 5861 Gulf of Mexico Drive.

The Manatee County Property Appraiser's Office states that the property at 5871 Gulf of Mexico Drive has an existing home that was built in 2008 with five bedrooms and five bathrooms and two half-baths with 6,037 square feet of living area. It sold for $5,625,000. The home previously sold for $7,125,000 in March 2009. Murphy was also the listing agent when the property last sold, and Landry was the buyer's agent.

The property at 5861 Gulf of Mexico Drive sold for $2.5 million and has an existing home and garage on the site that will be torn down. 

The new owner of both properties has not been disclosed yet, but Murphy said the new owner is a young family who will become part-time residents of Longboat Key.

Combined, Murphy said the lots create 200 feet of Gulf-front with close to two acres on which to build.

The combined sale, Murphy says, makes the property one of only three on the Key with approximately 200 feet of Gulf-front width. The other two properties are the Ohana estate at 6633 Gulf of Mexico Drive and the two lots at 6271 and 6281 Gulf of Mexico Drive that clothing designer Michael Kors purchased in November 2013 for $6 million. 

Keller Williams opens Key office

Keller Williams Luxury Homes recently announced its expansion to Longboat Key with the opening of Coffey & Co.

Led by Realtor and team owner Brandy Coffey, the branch is located in the Centre Shops at 5350 Gulf of Mexico Drive, Suite 205.

“We are proud of the way we do business, and we hope Longboat Key residents will think of us when they think of real estate,” said Coffey in a news release.

 

Businesses to celebrate military

On Memorial Day businesses throughout St. Armands Circle will honor those who are serving or who have served in the military.

Servicemen and women will receive special discounts and offers at participating businesses with “military appreciation” identifiers on their doors. Proof of service is required. For information, call 388-1554.
