MAY 20

BREAKING AND ENTERING
6:44 p.m. — 500 block of St. Judes Drive
Animal: A large raccoon tried to break into a woman’s screened porch, and she was concerned for the safety of herself and her dogs. Police couldn’t find the raccoon and suggested she hire a trapper.

MAY 20

TURTLE TROUBLE
10:56 p.m. — 1000 block of Longboat Club Road
Code Enforcement: A man reported a bright white light coming from a Gulf-front apartment that he said could disorient sea turtles. Security determined which unit had the light and made plans to notify condo management after no one answered the door.

RENTAL RESTRICTION
1:52 p.m. — 4100 block of GMD
Trespassing: Police received a complaint that a man who rented four rooms for the weekend had more people staying in the rooms than he paid for. The man told police the extra people had left. He was advised he would be evicted from all rooms if the individuals returned. 

ISLAND HOME CHECK
3:15 p.m. — 7100 block of La Lenaire Drive
Security Check: The owner of a home on Jewfish Key requested a security check because she was worried about weekend holiday boat traffic coming onshore near her home. The home was fine, but police discovered the front door was unlocked. The owner made plans for her Realtor to secure the home. 

BOATER IN DISTRESS
4:23 p.m. — 7100 block of La Lenaire Drive
Rescue: Marine patrol was advised there was an unconscious boater anchored near Jewfish Key. Dispatch explained that a boat was transporting the person to the Linley Street boat ramp. Fire Rescue was waiting for the patient, but he regained consciousness and refused treatment.

Give A manatee its space
12:50 p.m. — 4600 block of GMD
Animal: Police responded to a report of three people harassing a manatee in the Gulf. The group told police they were just following the manatee closely. Police advised them to keep their distance and give the manatee its space. 

MAY 25

MAN OVERBOARD
4:45 a.m. — Off the Key
Assist Other Agency: A man said he was pushed off a boat somewhere near Coquina Beach on Anna Maria Island. Police took him to Bradenton Beach to file a report, then took him to his mother’s home on the Key. 

HOLIDAY NOISE
2:11 p.m. — 6300 block of GMD
Code Enforcement: Police advised a man he couldn’t perform drainage work on Sundays or holidays. The case was also referred to code enforcement because there were no permits listed for the work. 

TOO MUCH PARTYING
5:02 p.m. — Off the Key
Boat: Police responded to Bradenton Beach after a highly intoxicated woman was transported to shore from the Jewfish Kay sandbar area. Other units made plans to provide treatment. 

FIRE STARTER 
5:40 p.m. — 3400 block of GMD
Fire: A witness told police someone dumped hot charcoal on the ground near a car, which started a fire. A bystander dumped a cooler full of ice water on the fire and extinguished it. Fire Rescue arrived to further hose down the area. 

MISSING BIKE
6:07 p.m. — 6800 block of Pine Street
Larceny: A woman reported that someone stole her $500 black and white women’s bicycle from the Broadway beach access bicycle rack. She tied it up with a yellow bungee cord but didn’t lock it. Police searched for the bike and couldn’t locate it. 

PARTY EXTINGUISHED
8:34 p.m. — 4400 block of GMD
Fireworks: Police advised a group of people in a hotel parking lot that it’s a violation of a town ordinance to discharge fireworks within town limits.
