New volleyball club to hold tryouts

The Ranch Academy of Volleyball Excellence will hold tryouts for its mini club season from 2-4 p.m. July 30, at Lakewood Ranch High, 5500 Lakewood Ranch Blvd. 

Tryouts, which are open to all players, ages 8-14, will be held for the RAVE’s 11U, 12U, 13U and 14U teams. 

Cost for the mini club season is $350 per player, which includes a T-shirt, practices and all tournament fees. A $25 registration fee is due at the tryout. Players also need to bring a copy of their birth certificate. Those who can’t attend this month’s tryout can attend a make up tryout from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 21. 

Practices will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sundays and 6-8 p.m. Wednesdays throughout the season. In addition, teams will compete in two or three tournaments. 

AAU membership is required for mini club. Players can purchase a one-year membership for $14 at aauvolleyball.com.
