With their pant legs rolled up and beads of sweating trickling down their foreheads, attendees of the Stomp Out Cancer event weren't leaving the East County vineyard without feeling the cold juice of squished grapes on their feet. After participants paid a fee and handpicked grapes from the vines to stomp, a faux Lucille Ball danced around the steel tub filled with grapes while she showed participants the ancient method once integral in the winemaking practice. Aug. 15 and Aug. 16, Rosa Fiorelli Winery & Vineyard again offered attendees two days of food, craft vendors, grape stomping and wine tasting on the multi-acre property, tucked away off County Road 675. Proceeds from the grape stomp benefited the American Cancer Society. For more information on the Rosa Fiorelli Winery &Vineyard, visit https://www.fiorelliwinery.com.

The excess amount of rain helped the grapes grow healthier this year, because fewer people came out to pick the grapes and the fruit was able to grow on the vine longer.
