Do you like to walk or run along the beach?
If you don't mind getting sand on your running shorts, there's an upcoming event designed for you.
April 24 is the last day to register early for the Manatee Miles Sea Turtle Stroll, to be held from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 9 at Coquina Beach in Bradenton Beach. Runners, and walkers, will meet at the north pavilion, near the pirate ship playground.
Cost is $24 for adults or $35 for one adult and up to four children. Two adults and up to four children costs $50.
Day-of registration will also be available starting at 8 a.m., and the walk will start at 9 a.m. Proceeds benefit the United Way of Manatee County.
Participants may participate in a 5k or one-mile course along the local beach. And after the walk, the event will feature games and activities for children.
“The Manatee Miles Sea Turtle Stoll is an excellent example of the community coming together to help our community help itself,” said Philip Brown, President of United Way of Manatee. “Volunteers from Manatee County Government have given their time and efforts to raise funds and awareness for United Way and in doing so are helping to create more opportunities for all of our neighbors to succeed.”
