+ Anonymous donation aids veterans through VFW post
For the second year in a row, an anonymous donation of $1,000 was made during our Memorial Day Buddy Poppy drive.

This past Saturday, our VFW Post 12055 was distributing poppies at the local Publix grocery stores in the East County area.

A man hastily walked up to one of our distribution points at the Publix on SR 64 and Lakewood Ranch Boulevard, deposited a roll of bills and walked away without exchanging any words or taking a Buddy Poppy.

That evening, when we looked, we discovered that the roll of bills contained 10 $100 bills for a donation of $1,000.

We want to heartily thank this individual and assure him that 100% of all funds collected when we distribute Buddy Poppies are used to support veterans. This is a charter issue with the VFW and is monitored closely.

This is the second year in a row that this has occurred.
