Authorities still investigating Gross murder

The Manatee County Sheriff's Office has no significants updates in the investigation of the murder of Lakewood Ranch resident Ina Gross, but now are calling her son, Thomas Gross, a "person of interest."

Ina Gross, 78, was found dead in her garage Jan. 9. Thomas Gross, who was visiting from out of the country, was the only person known to be at home around the time of her death, Manatee County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Dave Bristow said.

“There’s no big movement in the case, but we are making slow and steady progress,” Bristow said, noting a "person of interest" is someone with information on the case. “We’re still following leads. ”

Bristow said detectives expect to make an arrest in the case, but declined to release any other details.
