+ Longboat Key Historical Society goes digital with its archives
Longboater Chet Pletzke volunteered to digitalize the archives of the Longboat Key Historical Society this summer. He scanned in written material, which can be viewed at longboatkeyhistory.weebly.com. The content includes archives from the town’s early newspapers, Longboat Lookout and Key Notes, a historic properties survey and highlights from the first 25 years of Longboat Key. The Historical Society is planning on adding more to its archives in the future.

Michelin star-winning chef Jose Martinez, of Maison Blanche, is featured in Santé magazine’s winter 2012 edition. The magazine is an industry publication providing educational content for restaurateurs. The article, titled “Gulf Coast Seafood, Back from the Brink,” features an overview of the status of seafood in the Gulf of Mexico and, specifically, wild shrimp.
