Sheriff's Office rules death a homicide

The Manatee County Sheriff's Office today announced it has ruled the death of Lakewood Ranch resident Ina Gross as a homicide based on the results of an autopsy.

"We needed to rule out every other possibility," Public Information Officer Randy Warren said.

Gross' cause of death has not yet been released. Warren said no suspect is being named, as friends, family and neighbors continue to be interviewed.

Gross, 78, was found dead in the garage of her home around 5:30 a.m. Jan. 8. She was found by her son.
