+ Women’s Club celebrates 15 years
The Lakewood Ranch Women’s Club celebrated its 15th birthday this month its annual business meeting and Birthday Bash Jan. 12, at the Northern Trust Bank Community Room.

Ladies enjoyed birthday cake and other snacks as former presidents of the group were presented with flowers. Current Club President Frankie Bailey shared with members some of the club’s history, as well.

+ Deer collides with Sheriff’s Office patrol car
A deer ran into the side of a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office patrol car at 6:55 p.m. Jan. 29, at the 18000 block of University Parkway.

According to Sheriff’s Office reports, deputies were traveling eastbound on University Parkway at about 45 mph when a deer collided with the side of the patrol car. The deer caused a significant amount of damage to the front driver’s side door and then continued running.

Deputies in the vehicle were not injured.
