Mustangs send three to states

The Lakewood Ranch High wrestling team finished seventh at the Class 2A regional meet Feb. 11-12 at Charlotte High and had three wrestlers qualify for the state meet.

Kyle Riley-Hawkins led the way for the Mustangs, finishing first at 189 pounds. Evan Dipsiner finished second at 103 pounds and Blake Riley-Hawkins was fourth at 119 pounds.

Ryan Leverenz (125), Mike Dauphinee (130), Nick Schilson (145), Damian Simunovic (152) and Kevin Garza (171) also competed in the regional meet but failed to place in the top four in their respective weight classes.

The three state qualifiers will now move on to the Class 2A state finals Feb. 18-19 in Lakeland.
