Real-estate sales reach six-year high

Sarasota property sales have climbed to levels not seen since the housing boom.

March’s 800 total sales were the most monthly transactions since September 2005.

The 580 single-family home sales were up 23% from February, and the 220 condo sales jumped 10%.
The median sale price for homes rose to $159,250. That’s up 16% from the previous month. Condo prices climbed even more dramatically — up 26% to $173,000.

“Sarasota is clearly a recovering market,” said Michael Bruno, president of the Sarasota Association of Realtors.
