The Sarasota County medical examiner’s office has issued preliminary findings in the July 9 death of a jail inmate.

John Brenner, 53, appears to have died of natural causes. The medical examiner cites heart disease as the main cause and diabetes as a contributing factor.

The sheriff’s office will continue its investigation.

Brenner was in jail on trespassing charges. He was scheduled to be arraigned July 19.
