+ PIC supports Islandside project
The Longboat Key Public Interest Committee (PIC) recommends that the town’s electorate vote for District 3 candidate David Brenner, District 1 candidate Lynn Larson and at-large candidate Phillip Younger in the March 16 municipal election.
PIC has also stated it supports the Longboat Key Club and Resort’s Islandside renovation-and-expansion application, but still has concerns over water and traffic issues that it believes may arise from the project.
The PIC Board and attending PIC members said the committee participated in an objective and complex fact-finding and deliberative process as a predicate for its recommendations.
District 1 candidate Mayor Lee Rothenberg and at-large candidate Hal Lenobel declined to appear before the board. In a statement, the PIC board said their decisions not to attend“deprived PIC of valuable assessment information and caused its evaluations of those candidates to be based entirely on their records.”
