+ Florence Katz ‘pens’ down project
Floence Katz turns 94 in July and now lives at the Sarasota Bay Club, but she hasn’t slowed down a bit.
Founder of the Temple Beth Israel choir and Temple Tuesday, a luncheon gathering of elderly temple members, she now has a new project. She’s writing her memoirs, starting when she was child violinist in a tiny Ohio town. Music has always been a part of her life, and she has played with numerous local musical groups.

As she went through boxes of stored items, Katz was delighted to find an elaborately bound copy of the Haggadah, the ancient text that has the complete Seder service for Passover. Katz has no date set for the completion of her book but said she is working hard.
