PHOTO GALLERY: Save Our Seabirds Sunset Soire

On Thursday, March 1, Save Our Seabirds hosted a very elegant and sold-out affair. Its walkways were lined with tiki torches and candles, people sipped on cocktails and enjoyed appetizers served by Longboat Key Club and Resort staff. A string duet played accompanied by squawking serenades from the birds. Bird was the word at this event; the soiree and auction was a fundraiser held to spread awareness about the non-profit facility and its injured birds, rehab and release efforts. The evening also featured prosthetic expert Kevin Carroll, the man known for his collaboration efforts for Winter the Dolphin's tail. Carroll has been spending his free time donating prosthetic legs to Sand Hill Cranes at Save Our Seabirds. He was presented with a certificate of appreciation for the work he has done.
