Siesta Key held it's 19th Annual Craft Festival Saturday, Feb. 9 and Sunday, Feb. 10 on Ocean Boulevard to show of unique talent and draw visitors. More than 100 exhibitors sold their work to hundreds of people. Dick Cooley, an exhibitor from Wisconsin that makes figurines out of scrap metal and spark plugs said, 'the weather has been my favorite part of the show, hopefully I will come back next year.'

The Historical Society of Longboat Key kicked off their speaker series on Tuesday, Jan. 17 at Longboat Key Center for the Arts, a Division of Ringling College of Art and Design. Bill Shaver, President of the Fossil Club of Lee County gave the lecture. He spoke about fossils of Florida, specifically bones and teeth, which are his specialty. He believes there is an alignment between paleontologists and historical societies, 'Both find are relics of the past to preserve, record and pass on to future generations,' he says.
