The U.S. Under-17 Men's National Team defeated Brazil 3-1 to win the 2011 Nike International Friendlies Dec. 4 at the Premier Sports Campus at Lakewood Ranch. It was the first time the U.S. had won the tournament. Rubio Rubin gave the U.S. a 1-0 lead two minutes into the match, scoring a goal off an assist from Shaquell Moore on the first shot of the game. Brazil scored a goal of its own 10 minutes later before Tyler Turner and Wesley Wade, off an assist from Junior Flores, both found the back of the net late in the first half to give the U.S. a 3-1 lead, which it never relinquished. The U.S. received the championship trophy following the game. Brazil finished second with four points while France finished in third place with three points from three ties. Turkey, who was last year's tournament champion, finished in fourth place.

How not to make law

Although the idea of merging FSU and New College came as a shock, it is worth exploring. That should have been done before drafting a bill. Lawmakers often forget they are the servants, not kings.

PHOTO GALLERY: Sarasota Yacht Club Minnows

It's ten in the morning on a Sunday, and instead of sitting inside watching cartoons on T.V., the Sarasota Yacht Club Minnows hit the docks. The new club met for its first time on Sunday, Jan. 13, but will meet on a monthly basis because it seems most of the kids are hooked. Yacht Club employees Amanda Holm and Camille Bienvenue led the children's fishing group. They fished off of the dock, catching their fish using live shrimp as bait and releasing it shortly after.
