Economic Outlook Luncheon draws sell-out crowd

A sell-out crowd attended The Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County's 2011 Economic Outlook Luncheon on Friday, Jan. 28, at Michael's On East. A record 380 guests turned out to hear the economic forecast for the upcoming year from keynote speaker Sean Snaith, Ph. D., an economist and Director of the Institute for Economic Competitiveness at the University of Central Florida.

GALLERY: Lighthouse Kids Preschool Trike-A-Thon

More than 35 children strapped on their helmets and peddled their hearts out during Lighthouse Kids Preschool's 7th annual Trike-A-Thon. Once they were done peddling, the students enjoyed pizza and other snacks. Proceeds from the event will benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Over the past seven years, the preschool has raised more than $13,500.

Bikers revved their engines at the 15th Annual Thunder by the Bay Motorcycle Festival Saturday, Jan. 5 in downtown Sarasota. The festival began on Thursday, Jan 4 at Michaels Tasting Room and continued through Sunday in downtown. Festival - goers from all across the U.S. came to enjoy the music, the bikes, and the vendors. 'It draws a pretty big crowd,' said Charles Jury a vendor at the festival.
