Members of the Kiwanis Club of Sarasota began their day with a Prayer Breakfast Wednesday, May 7, at Der Dutchman. The breakfast was part of the international club's thirteenth annual Kiwanis Club World Week of Prayer. Attendees enjoyed a fresh breakfast and heard from guest speaker Rev. Don Roberts, past president and CEO of Goodwill Manasota.

A farm-to-fork event, King Family Farm and Market hosted an all-things "Southern Living" event May 17, as the magazine's Contributing Editor Rebecca Lang demonstrated how to prepare four recipes from the magazine and her cookbook. Harvest & Harmony attendees also enjoyed music and a dinner of crops grown at the farm, prepared by Loft 5.

More than 30 boys and girls competitive travel lacrosse teams, ranging in age from U9 to high school, competed in the Laxapalooza Lacrosse Tournament May 24 and May 25, at the Premier Sports Campus. The Monsters Lacrosse Academy U9 (4-0), U11 (2-1), U13 (3-0) and U15 (5-0) boys teams all won tournament titles.

Third grade students from Suncoast School for Innovative Studies dropped off their letters to Santa, Friday, Dec. 6. Macy's invited the children to read their letters as well as drop off all of the 1,386 letters collected by the class. The event was a part of Macy's Believe program that benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
