The Sarasota Chamber of Commerce held its 6th annual Clays Tournament Friday, March 7. Nearly 75 chamber members competed in teams of four or five on twelve different open ranges. Members enjoyed friendly competition at the all-day event, which was held at the Sarasota Trap, Skeet and Clays in Nokomis.

Keep Sarasota County Beautiful participated in a worldwide movement Saturday, Sept. 21, for International Costal Clean Up. Approximately 2,400 people volunteered across Sarasota County to clean up their community, a 25 percent increase from last year. Schools, individuals and organizations all joined together to pick up trash.

Dog lovers came together Saturday Oct. 19 to run for a cause at the 2nd Annual Doggie Bones 5K Run and Walk. Families and their dogs dressed in costume for the 5K Run, kid dashes and 1 mile walk. All proceeds benefited Nate's Honor Animal Rescue.

Cops Corner

Oct. 10 Act your age 4 p.m. - 5100 block of Ocean Boulevard. Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer. A 50-year-old tourist was causing a disturbance in a bar, cursing at patrons and employees and throwing quarters at people. Deputies asked her to step outside, but she refused and cursed at them. They finally got her outside, but she refused to sit down or answer questions. She also continued to swear at them. She was arrested but refused to walk to a deputy's car. So, she was carried, at which time she kicked a deputy in the shin. At the jail, she also threatened to kick corrections officers.
