Siesta Key Condominium Council hosts annual holiday light competition

Representatives from Siesta Key Village Association, the Chamber of Commerce and the Siesta Key Association boarded the Siesta Key Island Trolley for a competition that was both merry and bright.

It wouldn’t be Christmas on Siesta Key without the annual Holiday Lighting Competition. 

This year's contest was held on Dec. 14 and included 22 condos, up from 14 last year. 

The contest is sponsored the the Siesta Key Condominium Council, the Siesta Key Village Association and the Chamber of Commerce. Representatives from each group boarded the Siesta Trolley along with Joe Volpe from the Siesta Key Association.

Although judging got off to a slow start at Terrace West, it picked up quickly as the trolley cruised past Peppertree Bay.

Both sides of the street were decked with holiday lights.

Also new this year were the welcome committees. Two condominiums, Bay Tree Club and Excelsior Beach to Bay, tailgated the trolley’s arrival and was there to greet them with holiday songs.
