The Cardinal Mooney football team improved to 5-1 with a 49-7 victory over St. Pete Catholic in non-distirct action tonight. Quarterback Reese Vita threw a pair of touchdown passes to Mitch Arimura (13 yards) and Sean Morris (34 yards). Vita also broke the all-time passing mark of 3,375 yards set back in 2001. Jaz Mongeon rushed for a pair of touchdowns on runs of 11 and 50 yards. Bryce Williams scored on a 1-yard run and Sam Leonard scored on a 3-yard carry. Backup quarterback Jake Jessup threw his first varsity touchdown on a 10-yard pass to Tristan Hillerich. Cardinal Mooney opens its district season next Friday at rival ODA.
