Vehicle disrupts Siesta shorebird nests

Sarasota Audubon Society members and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission suspect an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) Monday, disturbed or destroyed Siesta Key shorebird nests - including those of nesting snowy plovers.

Sarasota debutantes volunteered for Habitat for Humanity Saturday, June 21. The debutantes, along with the help of parents and escorts, worked on a new home for a family. The group worked on mainly on finishing the roof. "I think we nailed it," said Quinn Incardona after two hours of nailing the roof together.
