Buzz Lightyear, Batman and even Nintendo's Super Mario made an appearance at Primrose School of Lakewood Ranch's Parade of Costumes Oct. 29. Following the parade, the costumed kids returned to their classrooms for a Halloween party.

Ghosts, superheroes and plenty of bumblebees flocked to Braden River Middle School for its Halloween dance Oct. 28. Participating students signed a pledge to remain drug free prior to hitting the dance floor.

Willis' walk raises funds for school

Willis Elementary completed its annual Walkathon Oct. 22. More than 600 children walked and ran laps on the outdoor course in hopes of raising $40,000 for the school through the Parent-Teacher Organization-sponsored event. Students will continue to bring in donations through mid-November.

Children at The Goddard School in Lakewood Ranch enjoyed the sights and sounds of a real fire engine when the school hosted a fire truck visit from Pierce Manufacturing Oct. 8. Children experienced holding and spraying water from a hose and trying on a firefighter's hat, among other activities.
