My View: More money is no answer

Rod Thomson's recent editorial, "Reforms, Not Money, Working," was spot-on. His argument that money hasn't led to increased test scores in our educational system is true both at the international level and at our local level.

There are some issues that have been so badly reported, where the bias is so entrenched and the media agenda so intertwined in news stories, that it is difficult to unravel things enough to make a cogent argument. Everyone's mind appears already made up with insufficient information.

Casey Key home sells for $3.1 million

A home on Casey Key tops all real-estate transactions from June 6 to June 10. Tammis Day, of Sula, Mont., sold the home at 135 N. Casey Key Road to Roso LLC for $3.15 million. Built in 1974, it has five bedrooms, five-and-a-half baths, a pool and 4,681 square feet of living area. It previously sold for $4.5 million in 2006.

Cops Corner

Not so neighborly 12:06 p.m. - 700 block of John Ringling Causeway. Dispute. A man who is trying to sell his condo placed a for-sale sign outside of the condo building. One of his neighbors didn't like the sign there, so she picked it up and threw it in the trash. She said the sign was attracting people who wanted to look at the condo, and she didn't want them parking there.
