PHOTO GALLERY: Operation Kindness

The 7th annual Operation Kindness event was held at the Longboat Key Club & Resort on April 2 to raise money for combat trauma veterans. The afternoon began with a tennis round robin followed by a reception at the Harbourside Dining Room. Proceeds were donated to the Wounded in Action Family Foundation (WIAFF), which assists veterans with the transition from a military hospital back into society.

Members of the Lakewood Ranch Women's Club came together April 2, with gold earrings, purses and other accessories in-hand. The women donated gently-used jewelry and other items to the event, which were available for purchase at discounted prices. Jewelry vendors, such as Heart's Desire, also had jewelry for sale on-site. Proceeds benefited SMART, SOLVE Maternity Homes and Hope Family Services.

Members of the Siesta Key Kiwanis Club met for its gala fundraising kickoff luncheon Wednesday, April 2, at Cafe Bacci. Members wore tropical themed attire to get in the spirit of the gala's theme 'tropical nights in paradise.' Members also enjoyed 'cheeseburgers in paradise' and margaritas for lunch while listening to Jimmy Buffet songs. The gala will be held at the Sarasota Yacht Club on Saturday, May 31.
