Loeb CEO calls project 'long-term investment'

The chairman and CEO of Loeb Partners Realty told the Town Commission Friday, Jan. 8 that The Longboat Key Cub and Resort's Islandside project it is proposing is a long-term investment for his company's more than $3 billion U.S. real-estate portfolio.

Jan. 1 Lord of the dance 12:20 a.m. -- 1600 block of GMD. Disturbance. Police responded to a report of a man refusing to leave a New Year's Eve party at a restaurant. Upon arrival, police calmed down a man and got him medical attention after he revealed he was punched by at least two men for dancing with someone's else's girlfriend at the party. Said the man: 'You know us Irishmen, when we like to dance, we're gonna dance, and if we want to fight, we're gonna fight.'

The last-minute rush to record Key real-estate sales before the end of 2009 sent transactions soaring to 55 in December, making it one of the best sales months of the year. Of the 55, no less than 20 exceeded the $1 million plateau.
