MY VIEW: Bob White is now walking in my shoes

Bob White, the leader of the Islandside Property Owners Coalition (IPOC), and I have walked parallel paths. In fact, the parallel is so close that you might say that he is walking in my shoes.

MY VIEW: Politics again trumps common sense

There is no question British Petroleum is at fault for the oil spill, but the moratorium reeks of politics and is making matters worse.

OUR VIEW: Rick Scott for governor

If you cut through all of the Bill McCollum and Alex Sink character-assassination attack ads; if you discard the standard operating procedure of the daily newspapers and their editorialists - which is to discredit anyone who has been a success in business; and if you judge Florida's gubernatorial candidates on their professional accomplishments, the choice for governor is overwhelmingly clear.

Scott explains what happened

Florida's daily newspapers and Rick Scott's gubernatorial opponents have rushed to paint him as an unethical profiteer. And everything they present you is through their filter. We're reprinting Scott's own explanation of the Medicare fines that his former company paid in 2000 and 2003.

Our view: Post-mortem on the vote

For all of those involved in the Longboat Key Club and Resort's proposed expansion and redevelopment plans, the holiday weekend gave them a much-needed break, time to play and think about something else. Everyone needs to recharge. Especially from the past eight, draining months of public hearings, town elections and decision making.

It's difficult to erase the ending to last week's Longboat Key Town Commission meeting. It was surreal.

Our View: Blame game

It's Tuesday, June 15, one day after the Longboat Key Town Commission likely killed the Longboat Key Club and Resort's renovation and expansion plan, and it's a good bet many Longboaters are still in a swoon, swirling, dazed and ... well, P-Oed.
