Paws on parade for 'pink cause'

Hundreds of dogs and their owners gathered at Central Park in Lakewood Ranch Nov. 13 for the Paws for the Pink Cause event. Festivities included a dog costume parade, raffles and other activities. Proceeds from the event benefited Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

Veterans share their stories

Veterans of four U.S. wars were honored guests at the Republican Club of Longboat Key's Nov. 12 meeting, held at the Sarasota Yacht Club. Each speaker held the rapt attention of the audience as they vividly described their experiences in the service.

'Tropical Dreams' fashion show benefits Adopt-A-Family

Dreams came true Nov. 6 during the "Tropical Dreams" Fashion Show and Luncheon at Stoneybrook in Heritage Harbour. The sixth annual event, which was sponsored by Stoneybrook's Dining Out Club, raised more than $5,500 for Adopt-A-Family of Manatee.

Key Niners kick off season

The Key Niners Association is off to a great start to their 2010-2011 season. The group of approximately 75 women, who play 9 holes every Thursday morning, held their opening luncheon on Thursday, Nov. 11, at the Longboat Key Club Islandside Golf Course.
