County proclaims Sept. 25 'Day for Kids'

Thanks to the local efforts of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Sarasota County, Mayor Kelly Kirschner and County Commissioner Joe Barbetta, both the city of Sarasota and Sarasota County will recognize Saturday, Sept. 25, as the official "Day for Kids."

A security guard on routine patrol noticed a puff of smoke coming from the top level of a parking garage. He didn't know if a fire had started, so he investigated. When he reached the top level, he saw three teenagers riding their bikes down the garage ramp.
