A little more than a dozen residents gathered at San Marco Plaza Nov. 6 for the Veterans Walk of Honor and clothesline art show. Residents bundled up and walked two miles up to Main Street and back in support of our local veterans.

There were no speeches but a lot of smiles and warm greetings as members of All Angels by the Sea congregation gathered Sunday, Nov. 7, for a Welcome Back brunch at the Bird Key Yacht Club. The main topic of conversation was "What did you do this summer." The Rev. David Danner visited with members and shared with them news of upcoming church events.

Featuring narration by John McCarthy, history buff and director of Sarasota County Parks and Recreation, the Historical Society of Sarasota cruised Sarasota Bay Sunday aboard the Le Barge. The cruise, now in its 18th year, was dedicated to Bertha Palmer and Owen Burns, who arrived to Sarasota 100 years ago, in 1910.

Thousands chow down for charity at Bowls of Hope

Hundreds of families filled up their bowls at the Sarasota Bowls of Hope Lunch on Sunday, Nov. 7, at Phillippi Estate Park. All proceeds from the event, where guests purchased tickets to sample different varieties of soup and chowder from over 40 local eateries, went to All Faiths Food Bank.
