Two positions are open on Manatee County’s Tourist Development Council, and applications for consideration by County Commissioners will be accepted until June 1.

The council is made up of nine volunteer members and advises county commissioners on uses for revenue derived from tourist development taxes and on the operation of projects set forth in the county’s tourist development plan.

Two seats are reserved for interested citizens, terms of which are expiring at the end of June. Other seats are set for hoteliers and elected officials.

Members should be involved in the tourism industry and should have an interest in further developing the industry. Applicants must be Manatee County registered voters but must not be subject to the county’s 6% resort tax.

The Tourist Development Council meets on the mornings of the second or third Monday every other month at various locations. Terms are for four years.

Applications may be found online at www.mymanatee.org/advisory_boards
