A burger joint with celebrity bonafides is now open at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport, and you don’t even need a ticket to Boston to be served.
Wahlburger’s, founded by actors Mark and Donnie Wahlberg and their executive chef brother, Paul, launched recently in Concourse B with its counter-service style restaurant and full bar.
Known for their New England accents and often tough-guy screen personas, the Wahlbergs started their burger business in Massachusetts in 2011 and were featured on a cable-TV reality program documenting their start-up efforts. The restaurants “celebrate the family’s story through photos and words of the Wahlberg brothers’ life journeys from Dorchester, Massachusetts.’’
“Wahlburgers combines the comfort of a neighborhood burger joint with a fun, celebrity-driven atmosphere,” said Jen Juul, vice president of business development for partner company SSP America. “The brand aligns beautifully with the spirit of SRQ and the growth happening across the airport. As a member of the SRQ community, our purpose is to be the best part of the journey, and welcoming Wahlburgers into our SRQ portfolio helps us create the memorable dining moments travelers crave.”
The Sarasota-Bradenton location joins other airport operations in Boston, Detroit and Toronto. Additionally, the brand is adding locations in Bass Pro Shops and Home Depot stores around the country after cutting 79 locations in Hy-Vee grocery stores in 2025. Several new Florida locations have opened recently in Home Depots.
“Welcoming Wahlburgers to SRQ reflects our commitment to elevating the travel experience while bringing nationally recognized brands to our region,” said SRQ President and CEO Paul Hoback in a statement. “We’re proud to collaborate with SSP America to bring travelers fresh, high-quality concepts that enhance the overall SRQ experience and help shape the next chapter of our growth.”
