Fans of internal combustion and live tunes will be in hog heaven  — Harley-Davidson and otherwise — on Feb. 13-15 at Sarasota Fairgrounds as the 28th annual Thunder By The Bay Music & Motors Festival returns.

The three-day festival that has worked its way inland from its bayfront origins features three nationally known musical artists, a designer of outrageous motorcycles, food, drinks, a silent auction and a special salute to veterans.

Oh, and lots of engine-powered things on wheels.

The weekend is a fundraiser for Suncoast Charities for Children.

"For nearly three decades, this festival has been a significant charity fundraiser in addition to being a celebration of music, community, and fun,’’ said Executive Director Lucy Nicandri of the organization. “As we head into our 28th year, we’re thrilled to bring in some exciting new additions that we know attendees will love — while keeping the heart and spirit of the event alive."

General admission tickets start at $20, though a range of deeper-access options are available.

This year’s scheduled headline acts are:

  • Night Ranger;
  • 38 Special;
  • Montgomery Gentry featuring Eddie Montgomery;
  • Paul Teutul Jr. of Paul Jr. Designs.

Also performing will be:  Maiden Cane, Downsyde Up, Given To Fly (Pearl Jam Tribute), Bobby Friss, and Crossfire Creek.

Other attractions at the event include:

  • America’s Freedom Tribute Display: A veteran’s park area will showcase traveling memorial displays—including the “Cost of Freedom,” Vietnam War, and Global War on Terror exhibits. The park will also host local veteran service organizations.
  • A “Cars & Country” Sunday car show;
  • Scenic Motorcycle & Car Charity Dice Run: A Saturday morning ride through Myakka River State Park;
  • A motorcycle rodeo.
