As rising costs challenge families to keep up with everyday expenses, Hugh and Eliza Culverhouse have donated $100,000 to the Community Foundation of Sarasota County’s Season of Sharing program to provide direct financial assistance to residents in need.
Season of Sharing funds help cover essential needs such as housing, utilities, child care and transportation, with 100% of donations going directly to those in need.
“We hope this helps provide some stability and encourages others to step forward and support neighbors in need.” said Palmer Ranch Holdings CEO Hugh Culverhouse Jr., in a news release.
The contribution will be amplified through The Patterson Foundation’s matching initiative, which provides $100,000 for every $500,000 raised.
“This support will help families and adults facing economic pressures when they need it most,” said Community Foundation of Sarasota President and CEO Jessica Muroff in the news release. “The desire by Hugh and Eliza Culverhouse to bring relief to neighbors trying to make ends meet is commendable, and this gift will make a meaningful difference.”
Now in its 26th year, Season of Sharing has raised more than $53.9 million and assisted more than 57,000 households across the region. Its most recent campaign netted nearly 2,200 gifts generating $4.2 million. Residents in need may call 211 to connect with specialists who coordinate direct payments to landlords, utility providers and other essential services.
